The islands of the Rachel Carson reserve are just as beautiful as they are educational. Only accessible by motorboat or ferry, these islands are one of the best-kept secrets of the Crystal Coast. They give you the option of relaxing and taking in the sun on the pristine shores or exploring the natural trails where you can observe wildlife, such as feral horses, gray foxes, river otters, sea turtles and many species of fish, in their natural habitat.

What to Bring
All Ferry Services – Bring necessities including water, snacks and sun block. Chairs, umbrellas and coolers are allowed at no extra charge. Don’t forget your swimsuit and towel for swimming.
Carrot Island – Bring, tennis shoes\water shoes, water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Pack anything to make the stay more enjoyable as long as you can carry it! Trails have cactus and sand spurs which are not friendly to our furry friends’ paws so no dogs on this trip.
Bird Shoal – Pack anything to make the stay more enjoyable as long as you can carry it!
Sand Dollar Island – We recommend you pack light. No carts or wagons.
